ProMedica, Toledo, Ohio, recently opened a full-service grocery store in a renovated building that now provides healthful and affordable food choices in a formerly designated food desert.

Market on the Green offers fresh meat, produce, dairy products, baked goods, frozen foods and other necessities, such as toiletries and household goods. Many of the food items are locally sourced.

The 5,000-square-foot grocery store is located in a facility donated by the city of Toledo, and it is part of ProMedica's Ebeid Institute for Population Health, a center the health system hopes will become a community hub “where healthy living takes root.”
