The Changing Role of the CMIO
While the chief medical information officer is a relatively new position in health care, the responsibilities are evolving as rapidly as the technology these executives were hired to oversee. This article examines the key responsibilities and traits of an effective CMIO, as well as barriers to success. It also looks at whether CMIOs should report to the CEO, CIO or another executive.
