Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Recruitment - State of Alaska
Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS)
Division of Behavioral Health
Alaska Psychiatric Institute
The Alaska Division of Behavioral Health is recruiting a full-time CEO to provide leadership for the Alaska Psychiatric Institute (API) located in Anchorage, Alaska. API is Alaska's only public, psychiatric hospital. We prefer a minimum of 5 to 10 years' experience in the healthcare field and at a senior management level position, including previous psychiatric hospital administration. This is an exempt position with a starting salary of $96,060 or more, depending on experience. This position includes generous State of Alaska benefits in addition to the referenced salary information.
API is an 80-bed Joint Commission-accredited and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) certified hospital that complies with the requirements of The Joint Commission and CMS. The hospital is an acute-care hospital averaging 140 admissions a month; it has a 10-bed forensic and a 10-bed adolescent unit, in addition to 60 adult beds.
The CEO, who reports to the Director of the Division of Behavioral Health, will provide oversight and management to programs and facilities, based on sound business and clinical practices, effectively integrating treatment, health, forensic and public safety systems. API remains a critical component of the behavioral health system of care in Alaska, and also plays a key role in the state’s judicial and correctional systems.
The appointed CEO will inherit a complex organization that has been challenged on many fronts by increased demands for inpatient acute psychiatric beds. A solid administrative, clinical and medical team is in place to continue the mission of the hospital and its daily pursuit of quality patient care.
The State of Alaska seeks an individual who can provide creative leadership in developing and conveying an organizational vision and mission to internal and external stakeholders alike that is aligned with the leadership of the Division of Behavioral Health, Department of Health & Social Services.
Minimum Educational Requirements: Master-level Clinical and/or Healthcare Business Degree, with 5-10 years’ hospital and/or behavioral health senior management experience.
