In the wake of news coming from the nation’s capitol during the past week — Marilyn Tavenner’s looming departure from CMS and the State of the Union address — you may have missed big news from H&HN, CHIME and the AHA: the 2015 Most Wired Survey and Benchmarking Study is open! Hospitals and health system leaders have until March 15 to submit their surveys.

Most Wired, which is entering its 17th year, affords hospital leaders the opportunity to assess their health IT strategy and implementation against a set of measures that cover clinical and business operations. Hospitals completing the survey get a detailed benchmarking report showing how they stack up against the field.

Perhaps most exciting, this year marks a new era for Most Wired. The AHA and CHIME last October announced a partnership aimed at strengthening the reach and influence of Most Wired. As the partnership evolves over the coming years, so will Most Wired. We are ushering some new elements this year, including a stricter verification process, new questions on IT security and an increased focus on patient engagement, telemed and integrated networks, as noted a recent CHIME release.

Look for more details on this year’s survey next week when I interview Suzanna Hoppszallern, the brains behind Most Wired here at H&HN. In the meantime, hospital leaders should log into the site (click here) and start the survey process. Most Wired is open to all U.S. hospitals.
