• Kaiser Permanente in Rockville, Md., and Johns Hopkins Medicine in Baltimore, Md., announced plans to "strengthen" their 15-year collaboration. The agreement initially will focus on sharing best practices and leveraging electronic medical records; strengthening the relationship between Kaiser Permanente and Suburban Hospital, a member of Johns Hopkins Medicine in Bethesda, Md.; bringing care into the home; building on the existing collaboration between Kaiser Permanente and Johns Hopkins' Armstrong Institute For Patient Safety And Quality; and pursuing opportunities to develop educational programs and research-based best practices.
• Six Wisconsin health care organizations announced a strategic partnership to make "quality, efficient care accessible to approximately 90 percent of Wisconsinites and their neighbors in parts of Illinois, Iowa, Michigan and Minnesota." Partnership members include Aspirus, Aurora, Bellin Health, Gundersen Health System, ThedaCare and UW Health. The members have the same electronic health record platforms, and offer patients access to 44 hospitals and 5,680 physicians. An initial commercial insurance plan featuring the six organizations is being offered through Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield's Blue Priority network. The announcement said the "partnership is open to expanding its membership to include other health organizations that have a demonstrated record of delivering quality, value-based care."
• Beaumont Health System has opened a $22 million neuroscience center offering a consolidated and comprehensive approach to neuroscience care for children and adults in one convenient location. The 80,000-square-foot, three-story facility is located on the campus of Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, Mich. Beaumont's Neuroscience Center offers 11 hospital-based clinics specializing in a variety of neurological conditions. It also includes private physician offices. The hospital-funded Neuroscience center was developed by Royal Oak-based T.H. Marsh Construction and designed by HKS Architects in Northville.
