• Charles Bill became chief executive officer of Bartlett Regional Hospital in Juneau, Alaska, in May. He was assistant administrator of physician development for the Centura Health Physician Group in Durango, Colo.
• Charles W. Shields will become president and CEO of Truman Medical Centers, Kansas City, Mo., succeeding longtime CEO John W. Bluford III, who is retiring in July. Shields currently is chief operating officer of TMC Lakewood. He worked for many years as part of the management team at Heartland Health in St. Joseph, Mo., while at the same time serving in both the Missouri House of Representatives, from 1991 to 2002, and the state Senate from 2002 to 2010.
• Joanne Mather Conroy, M.D., will become CEO of Lahey Hospital & Medical Center, Burlington, Mass., on July 10. She was chief health care officer of the Association of American Medical Colleges in Washington, D.C.
• Elizabeth B. Concordia will become president and CEO of the University of Colorado (Aurora) Health on Sept. 2. She was executive vice president and president of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center's hospital and community services division.
• Pamela Sutton-Wallace will become CEO of the University of Virginia (Charlottesville) Medical Center in July. She was senior vice president for hospital operations at Duke University Hospital.
• Joyce Newmyer became president of the northwest region of Adventist Health, including president and CEO of Adventist Medical Center in Portland, Ore., on May 30. She succeeds Tom Russell, who was named corporate vice president of population health innovations. Newmyer was at Washington Adventist Hospital in Maryland for the past five years, three of those as president.
• Mike Bowers becomes president of SSM St. Joseph Health Center on June 9. He was COO of Bakersfield Memorial Hospital and chief strategy officer for Central Valley Region, both part of Dignity Health in California.
• Tom Ramsey became chief financial officer of Hancock Medical in Bay St. Louis, Miss., in April. He is employed by the Ochsner Health System, which recently signed a two-year agreement to manage the Hancock County hospital. Ramsey was the CFO at St. Bernard Parish Hospital in New Orleans.
• Praveen Chopra became executive vice president and chief information officer of Thomas Jefferson University and the TJUH System, Philadelphia. Chopra was vice president, CIO and chief supply chain officer for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.
• Chris Knackstedt became CFO of Group Health, Seattle, in April. He was CFO of MultiCare Health System in Tacoma, Wash.
Transactions
• Duke LifePoint Healthcare announced that it will acquire Conemaugh Health System and invest more than $500 million in the organization over a decade. Conemaugh includes three hospitals, outpatient centers and physician group practices in west-central Pennsylvania.
