The Institute for Safe Medication Practices' 2011 Medication Safety Self-Assessment now is available online for hospitals to evaluate their medication safety practices, identify opportunities for improvement and compare experiences with demographically similar organizations.
Hospitals participate anonymously via a secure, password-protected website and have unlimited opportunity to view and download their scores during the data collection period.
Overall, the assessment will document the progress of U.S. hospitals in medication safety and identify the impact of such emerging challenges as staffing shortages, shrinking reimbursement and new technology. ISMP is partnering with the Health Research & Educational Trust and the American Hospital Association to conduct the 2011 assessment, which is funded by the Commonwealth Fund.
