•St. Charles Health System, Bend , Ore., named Allison McCormick director and Linyee Chang, M.D., clinical director of its first Cancer Center of Care. McCormick was vice president of project management and logistics at Paragon Biomedical Inc., Irvine, Calif. Chang has worked as a radiation oncologist for Central Oregon Radiation Oncology Associates since 1994 and had been medical director for radiation oncology for St. Charles since 2007.
•David Bronson, M.D., president of Cleveland Clinic Regional Hospitals, will become president-elect of the American College of Physicians, April 9 and president of the organization in April 2012.
•The 27th Annual Philanthropy Awards Luncheon in Kansas City, Mo., on May 13 will recognize John W. Bluford III, president and CEO of Truman Medical Centers, as Nonprofit Professional of the Year. He is 2011 chair of the American Hospital Association. The luncheon is presented by Nonprofit Connect, Kansas City, Mo.
•Triumph HealthCare, a subsidiary of RehabCare Group Inc., broke ground in January on its second inpatient rehabilitation hospital in the Houston area. The hospital will feature all private rooms and more than 6,600-square-feet of therapy space. The hospital is scheduled for completion by the end of the year.
•GlobalRehab, a Texas-based inpatient rehabilitation hospital company,, entered into a joint venture with Scottsdale (Ariz.) Healthcare to open a $17 million, 50-bed, 55,000-square-foot freestanding acute inpatient rehabilitation hospital, GlobalRehab at Scottsdale Healthcare. Cirrus Group of Dallas will develop the real estate. Estimated opening date is mid-2012.
