WASHINGTON —The AHA today announced that Maryjane Wurth will join the association on January 28, 2016, as chief strategy and relationship officer, and president and CEO of Health Forum, leading the organization’s business development, strategic planning, member relations and personal membership groups.

Wurth is the current president and CEO of the Illinois Hospital Association (IHA), a position she has held since 2009, where she represents more than 200 hospitals, 50 health systems and multiple accountable care providers. Before her tenure at IHA, she spent 12 years as the chief operating officer of the Healthcare Association of New York State (HANYS), where she also served as the president and CEO of HANYS Solutions, Inc., the association’s for-profit subsidiary.

“As one of the most respected health care association executives in our field, Maryjane enjoys the confidence of her state hospital association colleagues, as well as hospital and health system executives in Illinois and throughout the nation,” said Rick Pollack, AHA president and CEO. “Maryjane has a successful track record of implementing innovative methods to meet the needs of members, and help them do jobs better, today and in the future. We’re fortunate and excited that she’s coming aboard.”

Wurth has a long history with the AHA, having served on numerous committees, boards and task forces, including Regional Policy Board 5, the Health Forum Board of Directors, the HRET Board of Directors, the Allied Advisory Committee on Health Reform Implementation and the AHA’s Operations Committee.

Wurth has a Bachelor of Science from the State University of New York College of Cortland and a Master of Science from Cornell University.
