In 1927, the American Hospital Association first published its own magazine, Hospitals, focused on helping a growing hospital administration field serve its patients and communities. That first magazine subsequently evolved into Hospitals & Health Networks (H&HN), and then, in 1997, joined the internet revolution with an online presence that included news of the day as well as crucial information from hospitals and health systems.
In today’s health care world, new platforms, services and social networks give us fresh opportunities to provide you with the direction, perspective and information crucial to your life’s work. As the AHA re-examines ways to improve how we engage with our members and the field, we are ceasing publication of H&HN with this issue, although its archived content will remain available online.
What’s next for us?
We are proud of H&HN’s 90-year history and its contributions to the field and are thankful to colleagues past and present for their role in serving the field through our award-winning magazine. You will continue to find the rich strategic reporting and analysis on health care trends and issues typically found in H&HN — and much more — via www.aha.org; AHA Today, our one must-read source of health care news, best practices and thought leadership; special reports; and innovative in-person and virtual meetings and events.
Our focus is to deliver engaging content that is easy to access, rich in insight and tailored to readers’ personal preferences — now through digital capabilities that print cannot match. In the coming months, look for new media tools and resources as we provide you with informative content in new ways.
America’s hospitals and health systems are continually innovating to better serve their patients and communities. As your association, the AHA, too, is innovating to improve how we serve you and help you carry out your mission.
We look forward to your feedback and thank you for all you do every day in caring for the patients and communities you serve.
